National Visits
  • Visit of IRCBM and Meeting with Dr Aqif Chaudhary. Following activities were primarily decided to start joint working;
    • Microwave Reactor: Needs of IRCBM: IRCBM uses a modified domestic microwave oven for microwave irradiation of reactions in order to achieve specific benefits in relation the reaction kinetics. Currently, there is no temperature read out or temperature based heating. It would be useful to have a simple system wherein if a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius is set for 15 minutes the microwave generator switches on and off automatically to maintain that temperature.
    • 3-D Printing: Needs of IRCBM: IRCBM needs a 3-D printer and to accurate dispense (extrusion based) its binder containing powders along with a liquid feed. Dr. Abid to figure out how this need can feature in his linkages with China (perhaps a PhD in a 3-d printing project)
    • Electro spinning: IRCBM to look into its needs (if any) of moving the needle in x, y and z direction in the electrospinning setup and get back to Dr. Abid.
    • Contacts Sharing: Dr. Abid advised IRCBM to link up with Vacuum Society of Pakistan and University of Gujrat (Mr. Mazhar) in relation to freeze drying and 3-d printing respectively.
  • Visit of Energy Research Center and meeting with Dr. Aqeel Bazmi and Dr Fahad Rehman
    • Projects on Vertical Axis Wind Turbine.
    • Waste water treatment (advanced aeration process)
    • Water purification/sterilization (development of a device for in situ generation and dosing of ozone)
    • Biomass conversion (Biomass conversion research group (BCRC) already exist in out department originally started by Dr. Bazmi)
    • Micro bubble mediated novel method for the production of Biofuel
    • Involvement of Electronics/electrical Department for developing power supply for  the generation of plasma will in particular be very helpful so as the developing the experimental rig for the aeration process.
